How does it work?

The espresso capsule contains approximately 5-6 grammes of refined espresso coffee, is made from PLA fibre, a biodegradable plastic created from plant waste from the food industry (sugar cane, potato peel and corn, for example) and is completely tasteless and odourless. Even the transparent foil seals are made from PLA corn plastic. Once used, these capsules can simply be disposed of with your organic waste!

PLA degrades under industrial compostable conditions, which are created when organic waste is processed by a waste processor. Unfortunately, espresso capsules will only degrade very slowly in the compost heap you have in your garden.

The capsules are available in packs of 10. The plastic packaging used contains a wafer-thin layer of aluminium that guarantees a shelf life of at least one year. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find an environmentally friendly alternative to this packaging yet. This means that it has to be disposed of with your household waste. Naturally, STASCAFE is working hard to change this situation.
